Paid Summer Community Health Internship Opportunity

Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) are accepting applications for the Community Health Internship Program (CHIP). CHIP is an eight-week, paid summer internship that connects college students with local health departments, tribal health centers, community health centers, and community service organizations throughout Wisconsin. Interns work alongside community health professionals and contribute to projects that address real health needs within local communities.

Depending on the host site and placement, interns may gain experience in areas such as:
• Community health education and outreach
• Program and policy development
• Research, monitoring, and evaluation
• Public health initiatives and community-based programming
• Projects addressing health disparities and social factors that influence health

The 2027 internship will run June 7–July 30, 2027. Several position options are available to accommodate different student schedules:
• Full-time: 40 hours per week | $4,800 stipend
• Three-quarters-time: 32 hours per week | $3,600 stipend
• Half-time: 22 hours per week | $2,400 stipend
• Quarter-time: 12 hours per week | $1,200 stipend

Interns also participate in a weekly two-hour virtual seminar on Wednesday mornings.

Internship placements may be fully on-site or hybrid, depending on the host site.
