There’s an exciting volunteer opportunity at the School of Nursing this summer called “Grandparents University (GPU).” Two of our fabulous clinical faculty members, Britta Lothary and Leah Roscoe, have been involved in this program for several years and they are looking for your help!
GPU is a program where grandparents (many are UW-Madison alumni) bring their grandchildren or young family members to campus for two days to experience campus together. It’s a beloved opportunity for them to take a “major” and explore different opportunities that UW-Madison provides—all while making memories together.
The School of Nursing is hosting the nursing major on July 23-24 at Cooper Hall. Volunteers would work alongside our clinical faculty members and our GPU participants as they participate in activities and mini-simulations. Volunteers would have to be available on July 23 from 1:30pm-5:30pm and July 24 from 8:30am-12:30pm. Our past participants shared having current nursing students involved has sparked their grandchildren aspiring to be future nurses, so you could make a lasting impact!
