Fostering Success for Independent Badger Scholars

Are you declared as an independent student on the FAFSA?
Students considered independent are those without traditional family support, including those who were in foster care, experienced homelessness, have deceased parents, or have parents affected by incarceration, deportation, or institutionalization.

If this sounds like you, we have great news to share!
UW–Madison has joined 10 other Universities of Wisconsin system schools as the latest to offer a Fostering Success program.

Introducing Fostering Success for Independent Badger Scholars (FSIBS)
If you are looking for support but aren’t sure where to turn, FSIBS can help you find the resources you need, including mentoring from a staff member familiar with campus resources. The goal of the program is to support you while you are here completing your degree and beyond!

Visit our webpage and physical space
The Fostering Success for Independent Badger Scholars (FSIBS) webpage launched on August 25, and there is a physical space for students at 21 N. Park St, Suite 7101 located in the Adult Career and Special Student Services (ACSSS) office suite. The FSIBS cubby has a computer station, printing capabilities, fidget toys, art and craft supplies, and basic need items. You are welcome to drop by during ACSSS open hours.
