Taste of Research

Taste of Research offers Traditional and Accelerated BSN nursing students the opportunity to earn 1–2 credits while gaining hands-on exposure to research conducted by nursing faculty. Students work alongside a faculty mentor to explore a research topic, learn about the research process, and gain insight into how nursing research informs practice and improves patient care.

How to Get Started

  1. Explore faculty research. Review nursing faculty biographies and research interests to learn more about the work being conducted in the School of Nursing.
  2. Identify your interests. Choose 3–5 areas of research that interest you and identify faculty whose work aligns with those interests.
  3. Connect with faculty. Email the faculty members you identified to introduce yourself and express your interest in their research. Meet with them to learn more about their current projects and discuss whether there may be an opportunity for you to contribute.
  4. Choose a research experience. Work with a faculty mentor to identify a research project and determine the appropriate 1–2 credit course and expectations for your experience.
  5. Email Academic Affairs. Send confirmation of the experience, work with faculty, and number of credits to academic.affairs@nursing.wisc.edu to get enrolled in N699. Email needs to be received before the first week of classes.
