Opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in a research study

The School of Nursing has been asked by a PhD candidate in the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to notify undergraduate students in our BSN program about an opportunity to participate in a research study titled “Lived Experiences of Clinical Learning: A Phenomenological Study of Undergraduate Nursing Students”. The purpose of this study is to better understand how undergraduate nursing students experience the clinical learning environment and what stands out as meaningful in their clinical rotations.

The investigator is recruiting undergraduate nursing students who meet the following inclusion criteria to participate in an interview. Participants must be: currently enrolled BSN student in an accredited nursing program; completion of at least one clinical rotation; 18 years or older; not currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Nursing; able to participate in an interview in English. If you meet these criteria and are interested in participating, you will be asked to complete one individual interview lasting 45-60 minutes. The interview will be conducted in person or via secure Zoom and questions will explore your experiences in clinical learning. Participation is voluntary and confidential.

If you are interested in participating, please click this link to get started. A study flyer is also attached with key information and a QR code to indicate interest in participating.

Participants will receive a $40 electronic gift card for participation.

This study has been approved by the IRB committee at the researcher’s home institution. It is not an expectation that you participate. This is something you can do if you wish. Faculty at the UW-Madison School of Nursing will not know who decides to participate. If you have any questions about the study, please contact the study lead: Carla Orsburn (ctayl108@utk.edu).
