Research suggests that taking breaks within work or school hours not only does not detract from performance, but can actually help boost it. In fact, taking 30 second breaks can increase your productivity by up to 13 percent!
Here are a few tips to make sure you take breaks throughout your day…
- Schedule them! Maybe set a calendar block to take longer breaks throughout the day to go for a walk or grab a cup of coffee. Or, set an alarm for every 90 minutes to remind you to take a brief break (i.e., stand up to stretch and take some deep breaths, or walk to refill your water bottle).
- Give your eyes a break from screens – intentionally look away. Your eyes deserve a break too!
- Get fresh air. Take a walk outside, sit in the courtyard, or enjoy fresh air on one of our balconies.
