Kines 885: Transitioning to Research Independence and Research Team Management

Dear students/trainees:

As many of you start to plan your Spring 2025 Semester, please consider registering for Kines 885, Transitioning to Research Independence and Research Team Management. The course information is below.

What: Learn all about the job responsibilities of a Principal Investigator. Topics that will be discussed include but are not limited to 1) creating mission and value statements for research programs/labs, 2) managing time, people, projects, and budgets, 3) building and maintaining your community/networks, and 4) fostering inclusion and diversity.

Why: Discussing these topics now can help you design and navigate your own academic/industry adventures as a future Principal Investigator.

When: Fridays from 10:30-11:30a

Where: In person, Medical Science Center, Room TBD

Who: Drs. Pickett and Fields will co-teach this course, and there will also be opportunities to connect with other principal investigators across campus.

Enrollment Cap: 20 students
