IPE Opportunity–Bridging Across Differences Toward Flourishing: Perspectives for Academic Medicine

The UW CIPE, in partnership with the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and UW School of Pharmacy, is coordinating a brand new interprofessional offering.  Registration is NOW Open for all UW-Madison Health/Social Sciences Students to participate in the Bridging Across Differences Toward Flourishing: Perspectives for Academic Medicine in collaboration with the Kern National Network (KNN). This offering contains six lessons, including modules such as “Cultivating Intellectual Humility” and “Exploring Worldviews.” Additionally, this curriculum integrates activities and interprofessional peer-to-peer discussions in which learners can practice acquired skills with a conversation partner. The overall goal is to equip faculty, learners and staff with the skills and tools needed to find strength in different perspectives and collectively work together to solve pressing challenges in the field.

Dates & Location:

This six-module course will take place virtually and asynchronously during the Spring 2025 semester. There will then be peer-to-peer facilitated discussions that will follow for students to practice and support this learning. These discussions will take place during the first three weeks of March (dates TBD depending on availability of registrants).

Peer-to-peer discussion groups students will elect to participate in one of the following topics to ground the lessons learned in the modules:

  • Homophobia and Gender Diversity Bias
  • Fat Shaming and Body Size Bias
  • Ableism and Disability Discrimination
  • Addiction and Substance Use Negative Stereotypes

Showcase your Learning:

Students who complete the course and participate in the group discussions will earn a UW-Madison IPE Leadership Badge that will recognize student’s commitment and skills in bridging across divisive landscapes building community and promoting flourishing.
