Engaging in physical activity isn’t always easy. In rural areas, there are fewer gyms, less health programming, and often no sidewalks.
Read how a School of Nursing-community partnership addressed these needs, in the August issue of CARE Connections, the monthly newsletter of the SoN’s Center for Aging Research and Education. Here’s an excerpt:
“It’s much less intimidating than your average exercise class,” Renken says. “Plus, there’s a social component—we’re laughing together as we’re doing the activities.”
This month’s CARE Connections also includes a volunteer opportunity to help nursing students understand older adults’ perspectives; this year’s CARE undergraduate scholarship recipient; a profile of CARE Affiliate Jung-hye Shin, PhD; and news and events related to older adult health and well-being.
