Counseling Psychology 300, Special Topics: Body Image and Eating Disorders within the Helping Professions

Within the course, students will learn about various frameworks and concepts that are used in supporting people of all sizes, including people with eating disorders and body image concerns. The course is broken into five units that focus on topics such as weight bias; identity, culture, and bodies; the medical model and eating disorders; health at every size and intuitive eating; and advocacy and activism. Students will gain tools that will help them in their future careers and lives in considering how to support people struggling with eating disorders and body image concerns.

The course is an 8-week, 3-credit asynchronous course from June 17-August 11, meaning that students can move through the materials on their own time each week and can complete the requirements from anywhere in the world that has internet connection.
