Free Excel Class at Cooper Hall

The Nursing Research & Sponsored Programs office is working with DoIT’s Software Training for Students unit to offer an Excel class at Cooper Hall on Thursday, February 22nd from 1-3. The target audience is those students working on research or QI projects, but all students are welcome. There is a 30 person limit for this class. We have requested they tailor the class for research, focusing on common skills such as:

  • Basics like sorting, inserting columns, cell formatting, picklists/dropdowns/hover-over text and checkboxes, basic filters, referencing cells in multiple tabs
  • Using formulas (SUM, COUNTIF, REPLACE, IF)
  • Charts/graphs
  • Auto coloring coding cells
  • Error checking (data validation)
  • Working with multiple sheets in a workbook and connecting sheet data with formulas

It’s unlikely all topics will be covered in the first session, so a second session is being planned.

There is a limit of 30 people. Attendees should sign up here.

If you need to cancel, please let us know by contacting Kim Nolet kanolet@wisc.edu in the Nursing Research and Sponsored Programs (NRSP) office. A waitlist will be offered and managed when the maximum has been reached.

We will not offer a remote attendance option, but the session will be recorded and made available.
