The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available on December 31, 2023. UW-Madison will not have a priority date for the 2024-25 academic year.
There will be a few ways students and their families can get FAFSA support in the new year:
- FAFSA Frenzy – On-campus FAFSA support events; includes free lunch for students.
- College Goal Wisconsin – A free Wisconsin statewide program, with both in person and virtual events.
- Call or email the Office of Student Financial Aid with specific questions or situations. Email: finaid@finaid.wisc.edu Phone: 608.262.3060
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) expects that financial aid offers will be going out later than usual. The OSFA will be working as quickly as possible to get students their aid offers. OSFA will email students as soon as their financial aid offer is available. Their communications regarding aid offers will be sent to students’ wisc.edu email account.
It is also possible the student may be selected for a process called Verification, which requires documentation to confirm the accuracy of a student’s FAFSA. There is no way to know in advance who would be selected or what they are selected for. If a student is selected for Verification, OSFA will email that student at their wisc.edu email regarding anything that is required before they can complete their financial aid offer. Due to the delayed FAFSA release, students may not know if they’ve been selected for Verification until sometime beginning in late January/early February. Students can also view any requested materials through their Verification Portal.
UW-Madison’s Better FAFSA® page will continue to be the best single source of information related to these changes and their impacts at UW-Madison. Check back regularly for updates regarding the 2024–25 FAFSA.
