University Recreation & Wellbeing (Rec Well) seeks students of diverse backgrounds and experiences to join their next cohort of peer wellness coaches. Wellness coaching at Rec Well is a peer-to-peer intervention that was designed to address the need for additional supportive environments for UW students. In training, we place emphasis on public health themes such as the socio-ecological model, social determinants of health, and health equity. There is also constant skill building and practice in areas like motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and behavior change theory. All peer wellness coaches become Certified Peer Educators through NASPA and are trained in suicide prevention and cross-campus referrals.
New peer wellness coaches will start at the beginning of the fall 2023 semester at $17/hour. Applications will be accepted through April 1, 2023. Apply today.
