PEDIATRIC AND SCHOOL NURSING – INTERNSHIP
June 22 – August 5, 2023 (Required commitment for the full period) Offer includes full board + stipend for internship duration.
BBASI CT Program, licensed by Connecticut Office of Early Childhood, offers an immersive opportunity to learn about supporting the health and well-being of youth ages 9-15 years old, in a communal residential environment, as well as the related challenges/issues/needs which arise in an intensive ballet training program. Interns will be under supervision of experienced pediatric RNs part of a premier & licensed Health Center Team on the premises of the respected Loomis Chaffee School (Windsor, CT). Interns will work closely with the on-site licensed medical team members (RNs and ATs) and Program staff in supporting the health of summer students within the most current, age-appropriate, health protocols. Some of the expected responsibilities to include:
• Assisting in the pre-program medical review process of participants
• Assisting on-program to the on-site nursing team and sr. program staff
– Routine wellness visits
– Overseeing medication administration regimens / being trained for overnight administration of medication
– Introduction to Physician’s Standing Orders and other protocols
– Supporting emotional well-being & engagement of participants
– Maintaining Health Center: Management of medications and supplies & Administrative requirements in recording student visits, concerns, and any/all care provided
– Participant supervisory/support responsibilities as needed
• Other responsibilities may be assigned based on the evaluation of inteDear Educator, training and capabilities.
BENEFITS: Full Room and Board (single A/C room) / $2,000 stipend for the period, 1 day off per week + $500 bonus for successful completion of responsibilities / paid opportunity for part-time virtual work during the medical review process @ $15/hr.
REQUIREMENTS: A junior level or higher in your Nursing Degree Program. Candidates with less experience can qualify for a Program Assistant* – paid position as an entry point for future internship. (Program Assistant benefits are: $3000-3,500 for the period combination of wages/bonuses, housing & meals, 5 days off.) Fully vaccinated status, including for Covid-19 (booster highly recommended).
