From Accelerated Aging to Black Well-Being – February CARE Connections

The racism that harms Black people throughout their lives also causes premature aging. Read how a SoN professor is working to change that, in the February 2023 issue of CARE Connections, the monthly newsletter of the SoN’s Center for Aging Research and Education. Here’s an excerpt:

“She was in her 80s, and she was the hippest, coolest, healthiest woman we’ve seen,” says Oakley. “And she could tell you exactly why she is, too. She doesn’t let people ‘pull down her face,’ as she described it.”

This month’s CARE Connections also includes a research study opportunity for people living with dementia and their care partners; a profile of CARE Affiliate Paula Woywod, DNP, MSN, RN, CHSE; an opportunity to work with CARE; and resources and news related to older adult health and well-being.
