Due to the strong demand for pediatric clinical experiences and limited sites, we are excited to offer two pediatric immersions for Summer 2023! Applications are due this Friday Feb 3rd! Below is more information about each clinical plus a link to the application. Scholarships are available for summer through campus.
Girl Scout Camp – Stay at the beautiful Camp Ehawee, in Mindoro, WI, for 2 weeks working with girls ages 5-13 as they experience the highs, lows, and excitement of summer camp. Learn how to provide skills in different environment, think on your feet, work with pediatric population. Four rotations available: June 18-30; July 2-14; July 16-28; July 30-Aug 11. Meals and lodging are provided at no cost. Required to stay at camp during the week (Sun – Fri), can stay at camp for the weekend or leave. Must be able to provide transportation to camp. Will register for 3 credit course. (8 spots available). Click here to complete the Girl Scout Camp Immersion application.
Easter Seals Camp – This 2-week experience (June 18-30, with in-person onboarding the week prior at the School of Nursing) focuses on pediatric populations, even though the camps offer other weeks for adults. Our pediatric instructor Dr. Tracy Saladar will be leading the immersion to allow more students (up to 4) to attend; however, students will be working with camp nurses. Easter Seals camps offer children with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy traditional camp activities (archery, climbing wall, canoeing, swimming) in accessible ways and also provides their caregivers a much-needed respite break. Students will learn how to work with children with disabilities and gain an appreciation for the importance of respite care for caregivers. Students will work in teams to provide daily cares for campers and support nursing staff as needed. Students stay on the beautifully wooded 400 acre camp while camp is in session (Sun-Fri), with lodging and meals provided for free. It is located in Wisconsin Dells area.
