Housing can be a barrier to aging in place, especially in rural communities. Read how communities worked with the School of Nursing to help make older adults’ housing more accessible in the November 2022 issue of CARE Connections, the monthly newsletter of the SoN’s Center for Aging Research and Education. Here’s an excerpt:
“People want to stay in their homes,” says Shemak. “But our homes aren’t necessarily built for us as we get older. Disabilities or unexpected health outcomes might mean that suddenly our homes don’t fit us anymore.”
This month’s CARE Connections also includes continuing education resources; a profile of CARE Affiliate Hossein Khalili, PhD; and news and upcoming events related to older adult health and well-being.
