Working Towards Equity for Older Adults – June CARE Connections

It takes collaborative effort to ensure that older adults in Dane County can receive care that honors their cultural practices and beliefs.

Read how a UW–Madison School of Social Work Professor and CARE Affiliate did just that, in the June issue of CARE Connections, the monthly newsletter of the SoN’s Center for Aging Research and Education. Here’s an excerpt:

“After meeting with the Hmong community, we met with health care leaders in the African American and Latinx communities,” says Schroepfer. “These meetings were very, very illuminating. It became really clear how there could be issues.”

This month’s CARE Connections also resources to support healthy aging for people with intellectual disability; a profile of CARE Affiliate Sarah Endicott, DNP, PMHNP-BC, GNP-BC; and news related to older adult health and well-being.
