Program Overview
Health Professions Shadowing Program (HPSP) is a two-week shadowing and professional development experience. Students will engage in healthcare shadowing, health equity seminars, professional development workshops, Q&A sessions with University of Wisconsin-Madison professional programs admissions representatives, community field trips, and continued advising through CPHA. HPSP is jointly coordinated and offered by the Center for Pre-Health Advising (CPHA) and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Office of MD Admissions.
Eligibility
HPSP aims to support students who show an interest in pursuing professional health care programs post-graduation. BIPOC students, LGBTQIA+ students, students with disabilities, first-generation students, and students from rural or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Participants must be current UW-Madison undergraduates and U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients.

Program Details
HPSP 2022 program runs from Monday, August 1st, 2022, to Friday, August 12th, 2022. The two-week program is offered on campus, with housing and meals provided.
Application Process:
Students are required to submit the following:
- Qualtrics online application, which includes a personal statement (not to exceed 5300 characters) describing: How do your background and life experiences contribute to your interest in healthcare?
- Big Interview recorded video interview (directions on how to complete the Big Interview are on the Qualtrics application)
HPSP 2022 applications are due Monday, February 14, at 11:59 pm. Finalists for the 2022 Cohort will be invited to a final interview that will take place the week of March 7.
