Student leadership opportunity – apply by Sept 12 for CARE advisory committee!

Do you want to make professional connections with local providers and community leaders, and be a voice for the School of Nursing?  Are you looking for a leadership position to build your resumé?

The School of Nursing’s Center for Aging Research and Education (CARE) is seeking one first-year undergraduate and one graduate student (DNP or PhD program) to join our advisory committee.  The students chosen will:

• Attend one advisory committee meeting per semester and take part in related discussions;
• Work with community leaders and experts in the field of older adult health to provide student perspectives on CARE’s priorities and activities;
• Serve as a liaison with the student Geriatric Interest Group; and
• Will be one of three student members (a senior-year undergraduate is beginning her second year on the committee).

This is an excellent opportunity for students to collaborate with leaders in health-related fields and gain insights about how nursing education, research and scholarship benefit practice.  Interested students should be interested in older adult health and confident in their communication abilities.

This opportunity is open to one first-year (junior standing) undergraduate nursing student, and one graduate student (DNP or PhD program).  To apply, write a short paragraph about why you are interested and send it along with your resume to Diane at farsetta@wisc.edu.  References and statements of support are welcome but not necessary.  The deadline to apply is September 12.
