Invite to Forward Theatre’s “Mary Jane” (a play about healthcare)

All School of Nursing faculty, staff, and students have received a special invitation  to attend the Preview Performance, or subsequent regular performances, of the off-Broadway play Mary Jane, which is being presented in The Playhouse at Overture Center. The plot involves healthcare professionals, including nursing, as well as a message of caring and community. There is a talkback following each performance, and members of our School of Nursing community are encouraged to attend and ask questions and provide feedback on their experiences.

The plot:

Mary Jane is a single mother and tireless force. Armed with prescriptions, feeding tubes, and medical equipment, she fully embraces the daily grind of caring for her young, sick child. Mary Jane finds laughter and camaraderie within her community, and her grace and optimism fend off the persistently looming undertow. Unexpected humor and exuberant warmth illuminate this beautifully detailed and moving story of one woman’s commitment to finding the light in a very dark world.

The tickets:

The preview performance on Thursday, Sept. 12, is just $10 for students and educators. All other performances start at $34 for adults, $27 for students. Student rush tickets (on sale one hour prior to performance) are $15.

Performance schedule and tickets can be found online HERE, in-person at the Overture Center box office (201 State St.), or by calling (608) 258-4141.
