Undergraduate and graduate nursing students are encouraged to consider this opportunity to serve as a personal care assistant for a retired member of our UW-Madison community:
I am an 84-year-old female, intellectually and socially active, and a retired director of one of UW-Madison’s libraries, where I enjoyed working closely with students. Arthritis has affected the mobility of my arms and legs. I require a walker to take every step. Morning showering and dressing are particularly challenging, as is applying eye drops and putting on compression stockings. Loading and unloading the washer and dryer in my apartment are among the domestic tasks difficult for me to accomplish for which I also need assistance. I want to employ a reliable and efficient female to become my personal care assistant for up to six mornings a week, starting at approximately 8:30am, for 60-90 minutes each day. The pay is $16/hour to be paid every two weeks. Employment and character references are required, as is an in-person interview and a background check. The downtown apartment building in which I live is on city bus lines. For more information about the position and/or to apply, please contact me, Virginia, at 608-238-9225, Monday through Saturday, between 9am and 5pm.
