Director of Nursing Education: Olivet College

Position Responsibilities
The director of nursing education will provide leadership and oversight for the Olivet College nursing program (currently consisting of an RN-to-BSN degree completion program); supervise nursing faculty and staff; oversee curriculum coordination and development and ensure curricular quality; collaborate with academic and healthcare colleagues on a local, state, and national basis; work to attract and retain students; maintain program alignment with expectations of the Michigan State Board of Nursing for possible future graduate clinical expansion; secure and maintain national nursing accreditation; and, manage the departmental budget. The director is charged with the development and execution of partnerships with other educational institutions and healthcare partners with the intention to serve the needs of local communities for the preparation of baccalaureate-trained nurses and is responsible for implementing strategy to ensure quality, viability and cost effectiveness within the program. While the position is primarily administrative, the director will also be expected to teach classes within the nursing
program, as needed. The primary job site will be in Battle Creek, MI, with occasionally duties on the Olivet College campus, in Olivet, MI.

Position Requirements
Applicants should hold at least a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), with a Doctorate in Nursing (PhD) or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred. Successful candidates who do not hold a doctorate upon hire will be required to complete an appropriate doctorate in nursing within five years of first employment. Applicants must have a current, unencumbered Michigan nursing license. Required skills and experiences include excellent administrative, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and a proven record of working effectively with diverse populations. Previous leadership experience and experience working with nursing students in an educational setting is preferred.
